Position Summary: Develops new products and enhances existing products, managing process from conceptualization and development through finalization and rollout.
Essential Functions Include:
Manage and lead product development projects to design new products that meet established performance criteria, third party certification standards, cost targets, and customer requirements, leading process from conception, design, and prototype through testing and implementation for manufacturing.
Ensure products and materials meet expectations through performance of standardized and non-standardized testing.
Coordinate acquisition and sourcing of appropriate materials or services, while remaining cognizant of timeframes, budgets and quality parameters.
Maintain detailed project documentation.
Present product design and function attributes for training purposes, for example to educate sales or marketing departments.
Qualifications:

BS in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, Engineering, or Engineering Technology preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in mechanical or materials engineering.
Proven track record of developing and getting product to market, project management and leading product design and development process.
Experience with ISO9001 certification.
Technical understanding of mechanics of materials and materials science.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Experience with production fabrication techniques related to technical goods.
Strong technology skills and experience with applications such as MS Office, CAD software-Solid Works preferred.
Background or experience in fiber science or synthetic fiber materials such as Technora, Dyneema, polyester, and nylon preferred.
Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions.
Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality and organizational skills.
Strong communication, technical writing, and presentation skills, especially as they relate to articulating complex concepts clearly.
Strong computation and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities, while meeting deadlines.
Knowledge of climbing, rescue, safety and/or arbor markets preferred.
Flexibility and desire to learn new skills.
