Your Role:

MilliporeSigma is seeking a Scientist for our Virology and Microbiological Sciences Team. The position is based at our Bedford, MA facility and reports to the BioProcessing Research and Development group. As an integral part of the R&D group you will work with team members to coordinate, execute and report on studies to support new and existing products that contribute to biosafety in bioprocessing operations. This is a hands-on laboratory position to help new product development and optimize performance of current products for MilliporeSigma customers.

This position will be responsible for the following: perform virus titer assays using infectivity, qPCR and plaque enumeration; prepare and characterize stocks of bacteriophage and mammalian viruses; execute filtration and chromatography studies to characterize virus retention characteristics of membranes and resins; execute virus inactivation studies; contribute to method development and validation; preparation of test methods and reports.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Microbiology or other related Science discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with mammalian cell culture strongly desired

Skilled in aseptic technique and virus, bacteria enumeration and assay methods

Ability to work with biological materials under BSL-2 biosafety laboratory practices

Experience with Microsoft applications including data manipulation in Excel

Interest in broadening your knowledge and understanding of biosafety in bioprocessing operations

Team player, attention-to-detail, ability to work in varied, fast-paced matrixed environment

Excellent communication skills in both speaking and writing
