These positions are located in the Engineering Service of the Montrose campus of the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Position Description Title/PD#: Air Conditioning Mechanic / 03513A
Responsibilities
Serves as a team member of the AC/refrigeration Shop for the facility as an HVAC & refrigeration Mechanic with additional expertise of energy management and HVAC computerized systems. Performs equipment evaluations, programming, installation, operation verification, calibrations, and training on highly technical electronic systems. Maintains, repairs, installs, and modifies complex air conditioning, heating and ventilating (HVAC) equipment and systems and refrigerant equipment. Develops maintenance procedures, determines proper parts, and identify equipment needed to make installation or repairs. Uses knowledge of the refrigeration cycle on a variety of commercial and industrial systems. Checks for the probability of leaks using visual and audible examination of equipment components, applies prescribed test procedures to equipment by exploration of probable reasons for equipment failures. Retains knowledge of the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration such as refrigeration cycles, heat transfer laws. Refrigerant tables, calculating air flow, and the pressure temperature characteristics for the different systems in order to locate and repair faulty equipment swiftly and to reduce inoperative time to a minimum. Locates trouble before dismantling equipment, and to make repairs that insure proper functions after assembly.Travel Required
